Homemade Pizza

I love using Kristen Welch's (a good friend from Edmond 2nd Ward who moved to Arizona) Pizza dough recipe. It is so fast and easy--especially if you have a KitchenAid.

Start by letting the yeast grow by putting:
1 cup lukewarm** water in a bowl or cup
1 Tbsp yeast
1 Tbsp sugar

Let it sit there for about 15-20 minutes or until the yeast is foaming

Put
2 Tbsp oil
2 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp salt

In a mixing bowl and add the yeast. Mix or stir until the dry ingredients are mixed in. Then kneed for 10 minutes--adding 1/2 to 1 cup flour if the dough is still really wet. If you have a KitchenAid put on the hook and set it on level 4 and your timer for 10 minutes. I usually add 1/3 cup of flour with two minutes left.

That's how you make the dough!

Now roll out the dough to the size of pizza you want. This recipes can make 2 regular round pizzas--thin crust.

I like to cook the crust a little bit before I put on the toppings. So, bake the crust in a 375 degree oven for 8 minutes? Maybe. I usually don't time it.

Pull out the crust, put on pizza sauce (you can use the pizza sauce in a jar from Wal-mart). Add any toppings you want, I suggest you use mozzarella cheese.  Put the pizza back in the oven and bake until it's done. May be 10-15 minutes.

**"Lukewarm water" generally means between 98 and 105 degrees Fahrenheit, 36.5 to 40.5 Celsius. When you run the water on your wrist and it feels warmer than your body temperature, but not hot, that should be just about right.
