So, the day finally came when I had to drop off my oldest child to BYU-I. I am very happy for Shantelle, but I am also sad. I love having the whole family together and Shantelle is a very sweet girl!!
We flew into Salt Lake City and went to get our rental car. When the lady saw how much luggage we had she upgraded us to a bigger car! Which turned out to be a great blessing!
We then went to pick-up my sister, Amy. We went and did some last minute shopping and had lunch at Rumbi!! It is a delicious Hawaiian Grill!! So, So Good!! Of course, we had to get our thrift shopping in for the day...D.I. in Utah is ALWAYS a MuSt!!
We had a real nice evening at Amy's house with Michelle and Brian!! They drove up from Provo to see Shantelle. We had a tasty dinner and just talked for a while. Brian came to life when Amy told all of our horror stories about her broken legs and such. Brian and Amy looked at x-rays and talked about medical stuff for a while; it was fun to see Brian so excited!! Michelle and Brian are so sweet to come and see us! It was a fun evening!!
I want to kick myself for not taking more pictures. I usually have my camera out all the time, but for some reason, I forgot to pull it out.
Anyways, we left South Jordan bright and early the next day and headed for Rexburg. Amy's husband, J.R. was so sweet to let me kidnap Amy for two days!! The three of us (Amy, Shantelle, and myself) arrived in Rexburg and found these businesses right near Shantelle's apartment. Funny!!
Shantelle's apartment, Mountain Pines, is not on-campus, but is so close, she can throw a rock and hit the I Conference Center. Her place is really nice!! Kaylee and Aunt Gayle arrived shortly after we did! The girls were soo excited to see each other!!
We ended up unpacking quite a bit, then we went up on campus for ID cards and a few more items we couldn't find online. What a WONDERFUL campus!! I felt the Spirit as we walked around. It was incredible!! Shantelle was so excited! Several boys checked her out as we walked. Some said "Hi!". It was so fun being there and the excitement in the air. We went to Wal-mart to buy groceries and the shelves were bare!! Everyone had the same idea we did!! We were able to find some things, so we headed back home. We had a wonderful fireside with President and Sister Clark. Shantelle and Kaylee meet their "I-group". It was soon time to say good-bye...Shantelle and I hugged and cried!! I felt sad to leave her, but I was more happy to see what a wonderful place BYU-I has to offer!! Shantelle is going to absolutely LOVE it there!! She is so so happy! As a parent, I couldn't ask for anything better. It is perfect!!
Shantelle and Kaylee went to a fun activity, Aunt Gayle had to get on the road, so Amy and I finished putting Shantelle's room together! I loved doing that for her. We then left and drove to Pocatello where we got a motel and slept!
The next morning we woke up, drove to Salt Lake, went downtown to the Resource Room and looked around at the Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society displays. It was GREAT! We ate lunch and drove over to the Humanitarian Center and had a tour. It was awesome!! What an awesome church we have. Our efforts affect so many, many people around the globe!! We stopped at the Distribution Center, too. I had to drive Amy home and get to the airport. I then flew home to OKC!
It was a wonderful couple of days!! I loved seeing where Shantelle will be the next several years. I loved being with my sister and talking about everything under the sun. Mostly, I loved feeling of the great love our Heavenly Father has for all of us. I felt that love on BYU-I campus. I felt it as President Clark spoke about the great things that happen at BYU-I. I felt that love as I watched my daughter settle into her new life. I felt it as I walked around the Humanitarian Center. I feel of His love quite often in my life!! It is a wonderful, sweet feeling. I am grateful for ALL the many blessing our loving Heavenly Father has given me!!

Donna dear,
What a sweet, sweet precious post on your blog. Dad and I couldn't hold back the tears as you expressed your feelings of love and peace that the Lord has given you in settling Shantelle safely at BYU-I. Thank you for allowing us to share in those wonderful experiences and pictures. We love you! Mom and Dad
This is a great post! Come back up and see us.
I feel the exact same way about BYUI - such a great spirit! You can just feel it as you walk onto the campus. It makes it so much easier on us moms to know our kids are in such a wonderful place.
