Spring Break 2010

This Spring Break has been LOTS of FUN and CRAZY!!!

Friday night Grandma Christensen had an older cousins' party, which involved Shantelle, Lyndon, Gretchen, Austin, Wesley, Whitney, Cole, Spencer, Preston, Brookelynne and Isaac. They all had a great time playing games, watching videos and being together. They always LOVE Grandpa's hot cakes! It is so much fun having special days with just cousins and grandparents. What wonderful lasting memories Grandma Christensen is making!!

While the older ones were partying at Grandma's, we decided to have our own party at our house with everyone else. We had a wonderful dinner of chicken lettuce wraps, sticky rice, salad, vegetable and dessert! It was fun talking with the adults while the younger ones played.

Saturday was spent cleaning up the house and being together. Cami and David drove in tonight, but we didn't see them until the next day at church.

Sunday was pretty normal. I substituted in Primary as the Music Leader. I love being with the children and hearing them sing the beautiful Primary songs brings tears to my eyes most of the time. We have a real nice Primary!! The children are so cute and want to be good. After church, we picked up the house and waited for the Downing Family to drive up from Dallas. Oh the kids were so excited! They could hardly contain themselves…they wanted to go up to the top of the driveway and wait for them!! When Gretchen saw them coming down on dirt road, everyone started screaming and ran outside! There was lots of hugging and screaming when they finally saw each other. We had dinner and visited for a little bit, then the adults went to Mom Christensen's house for a small adult get together. It was more structured then usual but great! Dad went around the room asking certain ones questions about their calling or life. It was really fun and nice to hear about other people's successes and 'tender mercies' in their lives. We were actually late, so we missed most of it, but what we heard as GREAT!! David had to fly home Monday so it was nice to be together for a little bit. Grant and Maren had driven over from Tulsa and then everyone who lives around here was there. What fun!!

Monday the ladies decided to go to lunch and then stop at the grocery store on the way home. We went to "Cheesecake Factory" and had a wonderful visit talking about food, where we would love to live and getting caught up with each other. It ended up being: Kim, Erica, Cami, Christine and I. We got home to find everything fine at home. The kids just loved being with their cousins! It is neat seeing them have so much fun together! Kim had brought her kids over when she came to get us…so they played football and painted nails, had lunch and talked and laughed and had a BLAST while we were gone. Once we got back, Steele, Gage and Lyndon went to work with Bryan while the rest of us stayed home and made dinner and such.

Tuesday we got going and drove to Pops on Route 66 in Acadia which is west of Edmond. We looked around and everyone got to pick out a special pop! We ended up coming back home to eat rather than spend money and time at the restaurant. The older boys went back to work with Bryan while we got ready for the cabin. We went out and had a wonderful time: grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, fishing, exploring the countryside, making fires and then coming in for a movie: "The Princess and the Frog". Everyone started to settle in when Carter and I decided to go home.

Wednesday we got everything and everybody home when they all took off for the church to play basketball! Riley and Shantelle went to town to buy some craft supplies and Christine and I stayed at home with the younger group and did some vinyl! Wednesday evening Bryan took the youth to the church and Christine colored and cut my hair….well, I LOVE the cut and HATE the color! MY HAIR IS A PURPLE…OKAY MAYBE MAROON…IT IS FAKE RED/PURPLE! I LOOK CRAZY!!

Thursday morning the Downings had to leave. They got out of here at 6:00 in the morning. At 8:00 I took Lyndon to Boy Scout Campout and then I went to pick up Hannah, she is Shantelle's friend who agreed to watch the boys while we went to the BYU basketball game at the Ford Center. Oklahoma City was selected as a city for the March Madness tournament! We got tickets from a lady in our ward whose grandson plays on the team, there were on the third row! It was a fantastic game…double overtime…and we won!! We played Florida! We were even on TV several times; Hannah recorded it for us. I got home from the game, drove Hannah home and then took Tyler and Lance to Grandma Christensen's house for a cousins' party. I went home and cleaned up. Then John and Dianna came with their family! It was so nice of them to drive up from Dallas to see us! We had a fun evening with them just eating and talking.

Friday we woke up, played around the house, visited with John and Dianna and then went to get Tyler and Lance and Shantelle (she helped with the younger cousins' party) at Grandma's house. We drove to Eischen's to get their famous fried chicken and then to the cabin to eat and let the kids play! It was delicious and fun! The kids love the pond, the cabin and the country out there! We had to come home because John and Dianna had to go home. We were sad to see them go so soon, but grateful that they came!! Friday evening we got together with all the Christensens and everyone else who was still in town from the BYU games: Shea and Heather (four children), Lee and his friend: Jeff, wife and two boys. We had a delicious Mexican dinner and wonderful conversations!! It was a house full of people, but lots and lots of fun!!

Today, most of the kids and Bryan are playing volleyball and cleaning the church. Then late this afternoon is the next BYU game! It will be good!! However, in the night it started snowing and it is still coming down. Strange weather in Oklahoma!

We had a FANTASTIC spring break, so far; it is still going on!
