The Winter Ball

Shantelle was SO EXCITED when she found out the stake dance in February was going to be formal, The Winter Ball!! She could hardly wait!! Of course we needed to find a formal dress and I told her I could make her one -- after all that is what my mother did for me! :) (Thanks mom, you are the BEST. I remember all the beautiful dresses you made for me over the years for stake dances and even the prom!!)

Shantelle found a real pretty dress (sleeveless of course) and some nice fabric and tulle! It was fun shopping with her and watching her decide on the perfect outfit! I needed to sew the dress, add straps and make a jacket to wear over the dress. We ended up finding a cute jacket at Goodwill, so didn't make that. I was a little nervous about making the dress I wanted it to be perfect and for Shantelle to feel like a princess wearing it! I started sewing about two weeks before the dance. There was lots of fabric and tulle and gathering and sewing! I even called my mom a couple of days to double check on things before I sewn them. But as the dress came together, I was happy that it was turning out!

Well, Shantelle LOVED the dress! She looked so pretty and she said she felt like a princess dancing around! We even let her go over to Molly's house to get ready together! What a fun evening! Shantelle said the gym was PACKED! She had a TOTAL BLAST!

Some man at the dance took LOTS of pictures of the kids; so I will post some more from him:
Shantelle and several of the young women from our ward: Brianna, Shantelle, Molly, Lizzy, Sister Thompson, Michelle, Angela

Shantelle and some good friends from other wards in our stake!

A few of the young men in our ward and OKC 3rd ward: Scott, Costen, Jordan, Elijah holding Wesley! All these boys are great and fun!

He even got one with Shantelle slow dancing with Elijah!

One more of Shantelle and some friends: Forrest, Wesley, Lacie, Elijah, Lizzy, Molly, and Shantelle!

It is so nice seeing your children grow up and LOVE going to church activities! In fact, Shantelle said church dances are SO MUCH more fun than school dances it's crazy how different they are! I love the gospel!
